Dead Letter: Paper Courier

Five letters left. Nobody left to read them. Tally is the last courier of the Vellum Post, a small folded-paper figure with a brass seal for a face and an oversized letter-opener for a blade. She carries one wax-sealed letter down through the Sodden Quire, a paper city that ran when the rain came. At the bottom waits the Redactor, the Registrar who struck his own name out of the world. The letter is addressed to him.
