Step on them in the order that spells a chord, and the way opens upward. ■ Chord shapes, learned by playing Each island teaches one chord. Notes are shown by degree — root, 3rd, 5th, 7th — so you start to recognise the same shape in any key. You don't need to read music. Your ears and fingers do the learning. ■ Fourteen islands, fourteen sounds From the simple triads of the first island to the chromatic steps of Shadow Isle and the minor colours of Witch Isle.
