FinishCam: Photo Finish Timer

FinishCam turns your iPhone or iPad into a photo-finish camera for sprints. Film the finish line, then place every runner and get their time to 1/100 s. Made for school sports days, track practice and club meets. GUN-START TIMING The clock starts the moment the microphone hears the starting gun. No gun? Tap Manual Start when you see the smoke or flag. SPEED-OF-SOUND CORRECTION Sound travels about 340 m/s, so the gun reaches a phone 100 m away about 0.29 s late. Enter the distance and temperature and FinishCam adds that delay back to every time. FRAME-BY-FRAME PHOTO FINISH Record at up to 240 fps. After the race, step through the frames and tap a runner's name on the frame where the torso reaches the line. Times are rounded up to 1/100 s, like real photo-finish systems.
