Fundology shows you what a fund actually did, in figures you can check. Headline returns are the easy part. What is harder to see is the return left after inflation has eaten into it, and after the charges have been taken out. Fundology puts those figures next to each other so you can read them at a glance. REAL RETURNS, NOT JUST HEADLINE ONES Every performance figure is shown twice: the nominal return, and the return after CPIH inflation using the Office for National Statistics series. A fund up 40 per cent over five years while prices rose 20 per cent did not leave you 40 per cent better off, and the app says so plainly. WHAT THE CHARGES COST The ongoing charges figure is shown as a percentage and, more usefully, as a cash figure: what the charge would have taken from a 10,000 pound holding over five years, compounded.
