Ontario expects a lot of a parent, on a schedule nobody hands you. A child starts Junior Kindergarten in September of the calendar year they turn 4, which catches most parents out by a year. Registration opens the January before that. Child care waitlists run into years, because subsidised fees pushed demand well past the number of spaces. Immunization records have to be reported to your public health unit by you, not by your doctor. None of this arrives in one place, and missing a window usually means waiting for the next cycle.
