Explain a big idea in ten words or fewer. The Encoder sees a prompt, an idea from the sciences or the law: Tragedy of the commons, Speed of light, Pleading the Fifth. The Encoder writes a Code of ten real words or fewer, with no word from the prompt and no articles, prepositions or conjunctions. The Decoder names the idea. A Code that lands scores a point for both. On-device dictionary checks every word. A typo or a made-up word costs the Encoder a point. Two to eight players pass one phone. Three Outlets set the difficulty: Twitter, Reddit and ArXiv/SSRN. Seven fields: Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Technology, Management, Law and Finance. Commence, play as long as you like, then Terminate and anoint the Winner.
