About Tuppence: Allowance & Chores
The chore chart lasted three weeks. The money talk keeps slipping. Tuppence is a chores and allowance app for kids 5 to 18 that teaches money by letting them use it. In amounts small enough to be safe and real enough to matter. Here are the four problems it was built to solve. "I KEEP MEANING TO TEACH THEM ABOUT MONEY" Nobody remembers the lecture. They remember the jar. Tuppence puts the lesson inside something your kid already wants to open, so you are not delivering a talk you keep postponing. Every coin they earn splits into Spend, Save and Give, on a split they choose. Money always has a job before it is spent. "SAVING JUST FEELS LIKE PUNISHMENT TO THEM" Usually it is, because nothing happens while you wait. So we made waiting visibly pay. You set a weekly interest rate, and the Save jar ticks up a little every single day, with a projection of where it is heading. Patience stops…
