Alonissos Now

Alonissos Now is an offline and curated travel guide for the island, made for picky visitors with a week or less on the island. It covers over 70 places: beaches, tavernas, villages, viewpoints, churches and dive sites, plus the pharmacy, health centre, banks and ATMs. Today The opening screen shows the current wind, air temperature and sea temperature, and what the meltemi is doing. When the wind is up, the app ranks the beaches by how sheltered they are, with a short reason for each, worked out from the terrain around the bay. Beach shade Beach pages show a shade timeline: when the shade arrives and which side it comes from. The calculation uses elevation data and manually marked trees. Sea temperature Live where marine forecast coverage reaches the island, and a monthly Aegean average where it does not. The app shows which of the two you are seeing.
